Is CE marking required for all products sold?
- Every product sold in the European Union must be marked with the CE symbol.
- The CE marking can be affixed by the manufacturer or his representative on the basis of a declaration of conformity.
- The product must be marked with the CE symbol in the last phase of production and must meet the requirements for the CE symbol (at least 5 mm) and, where possible, be attached to the product itself or its label.
- Along with the CE marking, the manufacturer must prepare the necessary documents and keep them for 10 years after the product is placed on the market:
- Declaration of Conformity;
- Technical file;
In exceptional cases (depending on the applicable directive/regulation), the document retention period may vary.
