When can a manufacturer "certify" a product themselves?

When the directive/regulation does not require a competent third party (notified body) to carry out a conformity assessment, the manufacturer can carry out a conformity assessment for his product himself, i.e. product self-certification (self-certification).

The manufacturer must ensure that the product complies with the essential requirements of the applicable directive/regulation. This can be ensured by testing the product in-house or by using the services of external laboratories (which can offer suitable testing equipment and competent personnel).

One of the essential documents that must be provided as proof of product conformity, especially if a notified body is not involved in the legalization process.
